Richmond Metro, Virginia

One question, asked properly: where does the water go?

VA Drain Fix is a drainage-only platform for Richmond-area homeowners. We exist because yard drainage is treated as a side service by nearly everyone who offers it — a bolt-on to landscaping, hardscape or foundation work — and homeowners end up paying for hardware that was never matched to the actual water path on their property.

Why we started

The wrong system, correctly installed

The most common drainage failure in Richmond is not bad workmanship. It is a well-built system that was never the right answer — a French drain trenched across a yard whose real problem was four downspouts discharging at the foundation, or a catch basin dropped into a low spot with no outlet lower than itself.

Water does not care what was installed. It follows grade, soil and volume. So the sequence that actually works is diagnosis first, hardware second: establish where water enters, where it travels, what stops it, and where it can legally and physically be sent. Only then does the choice between grading, a drain, a basin or a swale mean anything.

That is the entire premise of this platform, and it is why every page here is organized around a symptom or a terrain condition rather than a product list.

What we work on

In scope

  • Standing water, soggy lawns and slow-draining yards
  • Water pooling against foundations and lower-level walls
  • Roof runoff routing and buried downspout lines
  • Surface grading and swale shaping
  • French drains, catch basins and channel drains
  • Driveway and hardscape runoff
  • Erosion channels and unstable slopes

Not our lane

  • Interior basement waterproofing and sump systems
  • Gutter sales, cleaning and replacement
  • General landscape design and lawn maintenance
  • Structural foundation repair
  • Municipal stormwater engineering

Narrow scope is deliberate. Exterior water routing is a full discipline on its own, and it is the only one we claim.

How we operate

A platform, not a call center

Written intake only

Every project starts with a structured diagnostic form. No published phone number, no inbound sales calls — the details get captured properly the first time.

Richmond-specific

Everything here is written for Piedmont clay, local terrain and metro-area conditions. General national drainage advice tends to fail on this soil.

Diagnosis before quoting

Prices attached to hardware before anyone has established an outlet are guesses. Our cost guidance is published openly as ranges, with the variables named.
